The ACMSC was founded in December of 2003 to promote the hobby of radio-controlled sailing/sailboat racing in the Wichita and South Central Kansas area. The American Model Yachting Association has sanctioned our club (#172), which is the governing body for model yachting in the United States. Like the AMYA, our club welcomes all of those who are interested in this wonderful hobby, regardless of what type of model you sail, or even if you dont yet have an RC sailboat. We sincerely hope that through this site and our clubs activities we will persuade you to join us and eventually buy and construct your own boat.

The ACMSC currently meets and holds racing events every month from March through November at Sedgwick County Park in Wichita. Racing usually begins at around 11:00am, and concludes no later than 3:30pm. Our races feature several classes (see the Boats We Sail section of this web site) racing on any given day. Races are conducted using a simplified set of sailing rules (see Club Documents section of the site for a downloadable version of these rules) and are ran round-robin style in heats. Depending on the strength of the wind, anywhere from 8-16 heats can be run during a typical race day. We would love for anyone who is interested to take the sticks (our term for controlling a model sailboat) and give RC sailing and racing a try!

Please feel free to have a look around our site. Weve tried to include as many informative and helpful items as we can, as well as links to other sites that will help provide you with more information about model yachting. If you have any questions about our club, this web site, or model yachting in general, dont hesitate to contact us. In addition, if you would like to be put on the clubs email mailing list, please email us at andy@acmsc.org and we'd be happy to add you to the list. Thanks again for your interest in the ACMSC, and we hope to see you at the pond very soon!
