Air Capitol Model Sailing Club
Class Championship Scoring Format
Throughout the season,
skippers sailing in classes sanctioned by the club will have the opportunity to
earn points toward the class championship. Class champions will be named at the
conclusion of the racing season (generally in November).
Classes can be comprised
of boats belonging to one of the club-sanctioned fleets (Victoria, Seawind, F48) or made up of mixed
classes. Mixed fleets will be used in the event that not enough boats are
consistently represented from the club- sanctioned fleets to be scored on their
own (generally, 4 like boats makes a fleet).
At the conclusion of each
race event, competitors are assigned points based on their order of finish in
that race. At the end of the racing season, the skipper with the least amount
of points is crowned class champion for the season.

Competitors that are
unable to attend events will be given a DNC status and points for that event.
DNC points are equal to the total number of competitors in their class that
were present for the event(s) missed, plus one point per event. (For example,
if a competitor misses a race, and that race featured 4 competitors in their
respective class, they would have 5 points added to their season standings,
or 4 + 1.)
The idea behind having
club championships is to increase interest in club races, and encourage
friendly competition.
ALWAYS REMEMBER this is a hobby
not war, and the emphasis should always be on sportsmanship and
above all else FUN!!
